The institution was established in the year 1967, under the rights and powers granted to religious and linguistic minorities by the Constitution of India (Acts. 29 and 30). The Catholic Archdiocese of Kolkata is the founding body of this institution. As a Catholic school, it is a learning community that has Christ as its central motivating force.
