About Us
The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Gandey , Giriridih was established on September 14th, 1994 in a small welfare hostel, provided by the district administration, 23 km away from the present location. In December 1997, the Vidyalaya was relocated from a temporary to a permanent location, but once again to a temporary structure. Despite its lack of infrastructure and facilities, Vidyalaya has thrived and established itself as a model school in both the district and the Patna Region. However, Vidyalaya had succeeded in procuring a well-constructed permanent building on a permanent site in July, 2002. The Vidyalaya is situated in the lap of nature at Gandey block, which is about 24 kms away from the district headquarters, Giridih, and 8 kms from the nearest railway station, Maheshmunda, located on the Madhupur-Giridih railway route. The name Gandey has its historical significance as it is named in accordance with the name of Mahabharata Arjuna's bow.
