Having seen the educational needs of the area, E.C.L Management invited many leading organizations to lighten the lamp of knowledge in this remote corner of Jharkhand. However, the offer was declined by them all due to some other reason. But D.A.V. with its universal approach ventured to hold that responsibility in spite of many hurdles and hardships. In fact, 28th August 1995 dawned a new era in the history of CHITRA an educationally deprived coalfield area having a bulk of the tribal population that witnessed D.A.V. as a ray of light and hope for life. The advent of D.A.V. at this point stood as an assurance for the E.C.L. management that could ensure a better education/ quality education for the children of its employees, made them stable which finally enhanced the gross production of the colliery, thus realizing all the dreams. Since then D.A.V. moved ahead without looking back. This school initially started in one of the “C” Type quarters of the E.C.L. Chitra Mines up to Std. V only with hardly over 100 (one hundred) students. There was nothing to be disheartened. Gradually it got its momentum. 1st May 2000 registered a landmark record. E.C.L. Management provided with a campus of more than 3 acres of land, its own building, having spacious 33 rooms, separate laboratories, Library, Music and Sports rooms. School got its affiliation with CBSE for AISSE (Std. X) in the year 1999.
