It is a Catholic Minority Institution run by the CMI Service Society of Mary Matha Vice- Province Bellampally. The School is named after the founder of CMI Congregation – Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805-1871). He was a man of great vision and a great educationist who brought about revolutionary changes in the field of education in the 19th century in Kerala. He started the Pallikutam system of education is characterized by the integral formation of students to equip them for the perception and realization of his/her mission in the world.
